Chapter Thirty-Two
Read online · About 6 minutes"So, Andrew, do you have any STDs?" my mother asked as soon as Andrew sat down at the cafe table, causing me to choke on my water.
"Mom!" I exclaimed.
"Oh, shush, Clover. Please, let the boy talk," my mother scolded.
"No, I do not, ma'am,” Andrew said nervously. He had been panicking ever since I told him he had to meet my mother and I understood immediately why.
She’s my mother.
"Are you dating any other girls?" my mom asked bluntly.
"No," he answered without any hesitation.
"How many girls have you dated?"
"Clover is my first girlfriend," he answered, not bothering to mention his lengthy past.
I nodded; good answer.
"Are you ever bringing my daughter to jail again?" she questioned.
"No," he responded respectfully, and I wanted to groan.
Really? She couldn’t just have a typical first meeting that asked about his family or how he was doing in school? Nope. she had to dig deep, of course.
"Well, then, I have one more question for you,” she said, pausing, thinking over it carefully. “When can I expect grandkids?"
I turned as red as a cherry.
"After we get married," Andrew answered smoothly, flashing me a smirk.
"Good, I want at least two," she answered.
"Mother!" I exclaimed for the second time today.
She looked at me with a frown. “What, Clover? I won't live forever. I am already fifty-one, I want to have little grandkids to babysit before you send me off to one of those nursing homes and before you take over my business," my mother said matter-of-factly. "I was actually hoping you two would get the factory moving soon."
"Oh, my gosh," I said, burying my face in my hands.
"I hope so, too, Mrs. Thompson," Andrew said, winking a me.
"Andrew, welcome to the family. Feel free to call me Valerie," my mom said, smiling brightly and he sent her a full smile.
“Thanks for allowing me to be in it,” he said before they fell into the school conversation.

I looked in the mirror, my eyes scanning my dress one last time. The blue dress looked gorgeous and fit my body perfectly. I couldn’t help but turn a few times, enjoying the slit in the dress and the lace back. It was all so pretty that I wasn’t sure if I would ever take it off. My makeup was perfectly in place and my hair was up in an elegant bun. No matter how many different brands I’ve modeled and despite all the pictures and the makeup I’ve seen of and on me, none of it compared to right now. Nothing compared to my prom night.
Ding.
My eyes widened as I realized the sound of my door bell ringing signaled Andrew was here. I lifted my dress a little as I walked downstairs, avoiding the length of it getting caught on my black heels.
I opened the door and caught sight of the smiling boy with a black suit and a navy tie to match my dress. "Oh, my gosh, are you the Andrew Carter? The one dating the Clover Thompson?" I asked, mocking the girls at school.
Andrew let out a chuckle, but still kept his smile. “Huh, I believe I am.” He winked as he walked closer, putting his hands around my waist. "You look beautiful."
"You look pretty hot yourself." I smiled. And he really did. He looked different without his usual leather jacket and jeans. His hair was messier than usual, but it looked nice. He was the player, yet here he was, smile and all, looking like he just won the world.
After taking plenty of pictures, it was finally time to go. "Have fun, you two!" my mother exclaimed as Andrew took my arm. We said our goodbyes and waved on our way out.
"You two make sure not to make too much noise tonight." My mom winked, standing in the doorway.
"Goodbye, Mother," I said, shutting the door with an eyeroll.
"Don't hide your face. You look cute when you resemble a strawberry," Andrew said as I put my face om his shoulder. I smacked his arm and he rubbed it with a frown.
"Still abusive as ever," Andrew said as we slid into the limo.
"Yes, but you like me for it," I said arrogantly.
"My arrogance is rubbing off on you, I see." Andrew smirked.
"Oh, shush," I said, rolling my eyes.
When we pulled up outside the fancy building the school rented, we were greeted by part of our senior class walking into the building with their dates. We went in the doors, getting our pictures taken, and then we walked into the gym, where the speakers were blasting “Here's To Never Growing Up” by Avril Lavigne.
"Clover, Andrew, over here!" Jasmin yelled, waving us over to their table.
"Hello," I said, sitting in the chair next to Andrew.
"Why are we just sitting here? Let’s go dance!" Jordan yelled, fist pumping and getting up, grabbing his date.
"Hello. It's nice to meet you, I'm Mandy," his date said quickly with a wave as Jordan dragged her off to the dance floor.
"That poor girl," I said, shaking my head.
"I know, right. How did Jordan end up with a date as sweet as her? We'll never know," Jasmin said.
"Well, let’s go join them," Zach suggested, and we all got up and went to the dance floor.
"I can't wait to get out of this hell hole in a few days," Andrew said as a slow song started to play.
"Yeah, but somewhere deep inside that warm heart of yours, you will miss it here. Especially your daily visits to Mr. Frank’s office," I said with a smile.
"Ehh, doubt it," he said, shrugging as we swayed side to side.
"You'll see him in ten years for our class reunion," I reminded him and he just rolled his eyes.
"Who says I'm coming?" he asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Me," I said with a smile.
"For you? Never," he said jokingly.
"Andrew, you know I'm actually going to miss it here. The drama, the fights, the crazy lunches, meeting new people,” I said, feeling a little sad at the thought of going into the world of the unknown. I didn’t have plans to go to college since I already had a good career going and it was that thought alone that left me scared of the outside world.
"I think I’ll miss Mr. Reagan's science class and his project,” Andrew said suddenly, referencing the project that brought us closer. “You know, maybe one day I can go thank him."
He was a small warm puppy inside of that hot body of his.
"Yeah, maybe one day." I smiled. My eyes followed the other couples, and I immediately noticed Chris was dancing with Stacey Heart. I felt my eyebrows furrow at the strange choice of a date, but I didn’t comment on the fact. She looked genuinely happy. It seemed like ever since her popularity faded, she’d stopped trying so hard. She no longer had that person she picked on weekly.
My eyes fell on Tori as she and Michael danced together. Michael stepped on Tori's foot, causing her to yell at him. He just rolled his eyes as they continued to dance. I let out a chuckle and Andrew looked down at me. I pointed over to Tori and Michael.
I looked up at the boy I was currently dancing with, straight into his happy eyes. Maybe, just maybe, I'll live that happily ever after.
