Chapter Epilogue
Read online · About 7 minutesWe were sitting facing each other on the floor of my garage. His body was sat in the middle of my legs, as they were propped up against his sides. One of his hand was holding on to my ankle, while the other was holding the rest of his body up. His legs were sprawled out for me to sit in between.
A smile had crept onto Landon's face. My lips tugged upwards as I uncontrollably smile at his attractiveness.
He removed his hand from my ankle and started fiddling with his gold necklace, grabbing the cross and tugging it in a semi-circle. I watched him as my hands were casually resting in front of me. It had been about five minutes since we were in this position.
"Thank you," Landon whispers.
I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion, tilting my head to the side as he reads my emotions effortlessly.
He releases a chuckle and returns his hold on my ankle, "For just being you," he mutters.
My face flushed red from his kind words. I couldn't think of anything to say, instead I sat there and smiled shyly like an idiot.
"You really inspired me," he continued, rubbing my ankle up and down, "You're strong, bold, and independent. You could face any obstacles without any help."
He was quiet for a second, "And you have a big heart."
My heart suddenly fluttered in response. My smile soon disappeared, however it didn't hide how happy I was feeling to be able to spend this moment with him. We looked at each other passionately, eyes as if they were dancing with each other.
His hand was removed from my ankle again, inching towards my hands. He started fiddling with my right hand, rubbing his finger up and down the side of my colorful index finger.
I kept my eyes locked on him as he removes his eye contact, staring down at my hands. It was quiet for a quick minute, before he lifts his head up again.
"Never in my life, have I ever thought that I would've fallen in love with such a strong woman," he trailed off, observing my emotions. I watched as his eyes drifted from my eyes to my nose, nose to my lips; then quickly back up to my eyes. It was silent against between us, but the silence was something we both cherished and didn't find any tension in.
Then it hit me.
Fallen in love?
As if he read my mind, he interrupted my thoughts with an answer, "Yes, I love you," he says, almost whispering. All we could hear after that is the soft wind hitting against the leaves right above my garage.
My heart fluttered in so many different ways that I didn't know was possibly. My back felt like it was heating up in excitement, the back of my neck was tickling itself as my stomach felt like it was getting feathered by butterfly wings. Needless to say, I was nervous and happy.
"So?" he chuckles, noticing how incredibly quiet I was being.
It didn't occur to me that I haven't said one word until now, "So," I trailed off awkwardly, tapping my finger against the floor between us.
"Will you?" he smiles.
"Will I what?" I answered almost innocently.
Just then, I realized that he was going to ask.
"Be my girlfriend?" he finished the question, leaning towards me. My eyes slightly widened. I knew it was coming but it still caught me by surprise. It didn't feel real. My eyebrows lifted up in surprise, my body leaning back a bit from the closeness between us and I was just left speechless.
My mind is such a blur.
"I," I stuttered, many times. My hands were now supporting me from behind, unable to hide the fact that I was extremely shaking out of anxiety. My body started heating up, and I started to blink many times uncontrollably.
Landon's face suddenly switched emotions. The romance that was on his features soon was replaced with worries. He furrows his eyebrows as he leans even closer, looking into my eyes side to side as if he was wondering if I was acting normal.
"Are you okay?" he asks, waving his hand in front of my face.
I froze.
He then reaches both arms around me, and grabs a hold of my wrist and started pulling them towards him. Since all of my body's weight was leaning against my arms, I could feel myself losing balance quickly after his actions.
A small yelp escaped my lips as I felt my back hit the floor a second time this month. The fall knocked the air out of my chest, but also some sense into my head.
So much sense that I noticed how extremely close the pair of light blue eyes were to mine. Then I felt the rest of his body tumbling on top of mine. I blinked in confusion as I glanced down at our feet. He had stumbled onto my body when I fell.
I heard a slight groan from him, "You're heavy," he complains as he uses his elbows to push the upper half of his body off of mine. I laid there and took a deep breath as his weight was lifted off of my chest.
With my arms to my side, I tugged the bottom of my large shirt down, pulling it past my spandex that was already too short to be seen in public with.
"Aubrey Watson," he calls, finally gathering all of my attention again. I blinked up at him, locking eyes indicating that I was listening to him.
"Hm?"
He releases a nervous chuckle, smiling at me slightly as he repeated the question again, "Will you be my girlfriend?"
His nervousness suddenly made me calm down. Even though we were in a skeptical position, it felt like it was just the perfect time. I released a smile, and nodded.
Yes.
His short cut smile suddenly turns into a huge grin. A grin that showed nothing but genuine happiness. After a short minute of us staying in that position, my hands made its way up to his chest, slightly pushing him off.
He quickly got the hint and pushed himself off of me, holding a hand out for me to grab it. I let his strength pull me back up from the floor as I fixed my over sized t-shirt.
Before I was able to fix the back of my shirt, Landon caught me by surprise against and slipped his arm around my waist. The feeling of his arm warmed up my body.
When his hand had made it way up to my chin, I already know the next move he was going for. I released a slight giggle, tilting my head upwards and he tilts his head down. Big smiles were plastered on both of our lips.
I quickly pecked his upper lip with him still smiling. He pulled me even closer and pressed his lips against mine. Our kiss didn't even last longer than a second, since I was able to feel his lips forming back into a smile. I couldn't help but laugh at his cuteness.
Turns out we were standing there half kissing and half laughing.
But that's what made that moment cute.
Until.
"So," a voice speaks up.
I could hear that raspy old voice from anywhere. As strong as possible, and with much panic, I shoved Landon away with all my might. I kept my eyes on my dad as I can still see Landon tripping over the buckets of art supplies in the corner of my eyes.
Loud clashing and banging was heard until there was a loud thud. A groan escaped from Landon's lips, followed by a whispering 'ow'.
"Dad!" I greeted nervously, my hands interlocked with another behind my back, "Why are you home so early?"
"Should I be relieved that you hurt him before I did?" my dad says speechlessly, staring at Landon's body that was laying flat on the floor. Even though he did trip over my art supplies, he was lucky that no paint had stained any of his expensive clothing. He had a random rag laying across his face, clean paint brushes that were scattered around him and a small canvas directly sitting on one of his legs.
"I guess I don't have to worry if he breaks your heart," he chuckles, "since you're capable of doing that."
I looked over at Landon then looked back at my dad, smiling nervously.
My dad puts down his lunch bag, and rested his work uniform onto the floor. He took off his baseball cap and tossed it on top of his dirty uniform before clicking his tongue.
"Well are you just going to let him be like that?" he scolded, waddling his way over to Landon.
I watched in amusement, as my dad takes all the art items off of Landon's body. Landon sat up shortly, the rag falling off his face. His jaws has dropped the moment he noticed that my father and his face were only a few inches apart.
"Dad?" he panicked, quickly clearing his throat, "I mean, Mr. Watson?"
My father chuckled, reaching a hand out to Landon, "Dad is good enough for me." Father turns towards me, sending me a wink.
The end.
