My Bad Boy’s Ego · Author not credited
Chapter 30
Read online · About 9 minutesWe stayed in that room for about fifteen minutes after the incident, none of us bothered to speak up after the corruption. Landon held the paper between his fingers, his lips calmly pressed against each other while his eyes tracks down ever single word on the document. The only thing that was heard through the silence were each of our breaths.
I was now leaning against the wall almost comfortably, while Landon maintains his position in front of me. His hand was resting on the wall next to my head while his other hand held the paper carefully between us; I didn't feel trapped under his control. His attention was fully kept onto the paper, and my attention was fully kept onto him.
My eyes trailed from his messy dark hair, to his diamond blue eyes. His face was still as beautiful as ever, and for some reason I never got tired of the same old physical appearance he has. He was always dressed a little over the top for school, maybe even something in relation to the next top model's everyday outfit.
Landon looks up from his paper, with the same expression of disbelief swept across his face. He opened in mouth in effort to say something but froze instead. Instead of continuing his sentence, he did a double take on the document and flipped through the pages rigorously.
"But how?" he asks himself in a low tone.
"What do you mean how?" I interrupted his thoughts, loud enough for my voice to almost echo throughout the empty art classroom.
We both observed the paper, although I knew he had more knowledge on what was written on it than I was.
It was then when I felt a hand slip into mine. I felt a lightning struck from my hand and almost immediately, I yanked my hand back; only for the grip to tighten around my palms.
Landon exchanges a look at me, and without giving me a second option, he drags me out of the classroom closing the door with a loud bang.
Upon impact of the door, students started to turn our way as their jaw slightly drops in amusement, shock, and mix of feelings. Almost everyone in the school knows that Landon and I have issues between each other. The love and hate friendship we have sent many different messages towards our peers which results to many rumors. However, seeing us walk hand in hand as if we were ready to fight in the war was something almost no one expected to see.
As I was dragged down the hallway, I caught eyes with two familiar pairs of blues and browns. Colton and Bella were hanging out by her locker until both of them locks eyes with me one after another. Colton wasn't surprise by my dramatic run through with Landon, Bella was almost the opposite. Bella almost fell off her feet, seeing Landon and I hand in hand.
Before I was able to exchange any sort of communication towards my two best friends, I was immediately dragged out of the hallway and on the way towards the student parking lot.
"Landon," a familiar voice called out.
Landon almost hesitated to continue walking, but fell back in place as he continues to walk faster.
"Landon, man," Isaiah slightly chuckles as he jogs up towards Landon and I, almost ignoring my attendance, "Why are you in such a rush?"
Isaiah's eyes trailed over to me, and back to Landon; soon leading up to our hands locked in each other's. His expression suddenly hardened the moment he realizes that we were both together. By the time Landon stops his tracks, Isaiah was already in front of him eyeing him down as his he was a dominant predator.
"What are you doing," Isaiah muttered underneath his breath, trying to hide his words from other students who were casually spectating the situation.
Landon sighs and pushes Isaiah aside as he attempted to walk forward, "Trust me, I'll explain later."
I couldn't do anything but to follow Landon due to my desperation in getting the explanation. Within barely taking the next step, I felt Isaiah's hand suddenly clutching my elbow, yanking me back with full force. Immediately, we all stopped out tracks as the both men hung onto the each of my arms.
"Landon," Isaiah growls quietly.
At this time, students started to crowd around us with a little distance for some 'privacy'. This didn't hide the fact that they started to bring out their phones, and record probably the most dramatic high school encounter ever.
"Let her go. I will explain later," Landon mutters in a very aggressive tone. Isaiah was almost taken aback by Landon's attitude however the grip on my elbow wasn't loose enough for me to just slip out of his hand.
Landon started to grow impatient with Isaiah, and lets go of my hand.
"I will tell you one more fucking time. Let her go," he repeats, louder this time. Isaiah looks at Landon with a bit of trust, before letting my elbow go as my arm fell back by my side. They exchanged stares for a couple seconds before Landon grabs my hand again and drags me towards his new sports car.
I was too shock from adrenaline to even notice the new matte black Ferrari casually parked up in one of the parking spaces. Landon opens the passenger door for me before I welcome myself in. With a dead expression, I kept my eyes towards the front window; while clutching the envelope with the loan documents inside both of my palms.

We pulled up into a driveway that took almost a full minute to drive towards the valet parking of the building. In front of the car, laid a fifty-story building towering over all the other little buildings around them. It was clear that all the floors had windows from ceilings to floor, but the window were fully tinted until the building was fully black.
On the front door painted in small minimalism letters stating "Jones 'Carthy' Med" clearly stating who this building must have belonged to.
Landon pulls up the car to one of the employees and steps out of his car with a rush, almost tripping on the way out from the low vehicle. He opens my door before I had the chance too, and tosses his keys towards the employees. The short, bearded man swiftly caught the car keys, knowing almost immediately where to park the prince's car.
"Don't touch anything," he scolded quietly as he leads me towards the front door. The automatic door welcomes us in to the fine smell of a new lobby. Located at the front desk were three men dressed in a full formal attire, with a curly wired earpiece that made them look as if they were security under cover.
They immediately greeted Landon with smiles and greetings as we made our way towards the elevator. I was oblivious of how beautiful and nearly romantic a corporate building can look like. In offices, I've always imagined it to be minimalistic, boring, with only colors of white, grey, and black filling the aesthetics of a boring workplace. This building consisted of metallic golds, marble white and hints of red wine.
Trying my hardest to not get distracted by the building's attractions, I followed Landon towards the elevator that was located in the far right of the building. The elevator door was pure gold, even the buttons were outlined with gold as well as the arrows.
"Where are we going?" I asked Landon as we were waiting for the elevator door to close.
Landon took the bill from my hand and folded it in thirds before tucking it into the inside of his bomber jacket, "Just don't say anything if we run into someone."
What is this, the storm breaker?
The elevator door opens quickly afterwards, locating in front of us were just a white hallways with dozens of black doors. Each of the doors had a gold plaque with I'm guessing the employee's names. We walked down the hall, every name listed on the doors had a male name, following with 'Carthy' in big capital letters. Apparently this family is a lot bigger than anyone had expected.
Landon stops at the furthest door on the right. Name in bold, 'Charles Carthy'. I was suddenly taken aback by the situation and grabbed Landon's arm. He sharply looks at me with almost a serious expression, eyes piercing into my body as if he was able to kill my soul.
"I don't think we should," I whispered at him, shivering at the name and the sight of his dominant eyes.
He brings up a finger, setting it on my lip as he turns his back towards me again. This time, he grabs my hand from his arm and holds it, intertwining our fingers together as he pulls out a card from the inside of his jacket. He scans the card against the reader at the handle of the door and with a smooth click, the door was unlocked.
He opens the door almost carelessly as all that was revealed in our vision were papers and files scattered on a simple black desk. The office was huge, with a ceiling to floor window; everything in this room was almost as if it was able to pull off as a bedroom without a bed. There was a television hung up against the wall, plants and paintings to represent a little life in the room, couches facing the television and even a fridge lined up in the corner.
A person can live and hide here.
Landon pulls me to a seat, motioning me to sit down on the chair facing the desk as he jumps back up on his feet. He shuffles through the files and papers on the table, and I couldn't help but to be stunned by the aesthetic of the office. I sat still, without even daring myself to move from this spot afraid to accidentally break anything in this expensive room.
After watching Landon flip through files for about ten minutes, a click on the door was heard. My heart skipped a beat as I slightly jump from my seat, mouthing words towards Landon as his body was frozen on the other side of the desk. His eyes slightly widened as he smoothly grabs out of the file with one hand and my arm in his other.
I saw Landon's lips cursing slightly as he drags me towards one of the dresser on the other side of the room. Without a second thought, I grabbed the handle and pulled the closet door open, stepping into the wardrobe area that was only big enough to squeeze us to in. Landon climbs in after wards and shuts the door as quiet as possible, our bodies leaning against each other.
We were squished in the closet; his body was extremely close to me as the only space between our bodies where are faces resting on the opposite side. We both had our heads leaning slightly to our rights, I could feel his warm breath lingering against my neck.
The main door opened and closed right afterwards, followed by a loud groan from possibly Charles. Then the only sound in the room was pages flipping. I squeezed my eyes shut tightly, pressing my lips together as I felt Landon leaning his forehead against the back of the closet next to my face.
"Fuck," I heard Landon whisper underneath his breath.
