No Matter What — CHAPTER 20

CASSIE'S POV:-

It had been months since Chris and I started dating together. He went to London for a week. I missed him so much. I wanted to go with him. But he said it's better for me to stay in New York. And I was thankful that I didn't go with him. My father came the next day. He said he got a few days off and he wanted to spend his time with me. Being with my father or spending my time with him had always been a blessing for me. I always enjoyed his company. Stella was also getting better. Seeing me and Chris happy together, she started to understand that we both need each other. Mr Hunt had helped us to make her realize that we can have a future.

It was Iris' wedding day. Before Chris went to London, Scott and Iris told us that they are planning to get married. It was fun to attend your best friend's wedding. We went shopping almost every day. It took Iris 3 days to choose a perfect wedding gown for herself. When she told me she finally had chosen a gown for herself, I literally passed out in the boutique.

My dad asked me to go shopping with him for Iris' wedding. Just then I received Chris' text saying "he will take me shopping, then he has a surprise for me." I told my dad and he was more than happy to know I was going with Chris. Stella was getting better with us both. I woke up that day with the yummy aroma of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. I quickly crawled out of my bed, got freshened up, brushed my teeth and went downstairs. As I stepped into the dining hall, I saw a bucket full of chocolate chip cookies was on the table. I licked my lips and went to the table. I picked a cookie and took a huge bite. I moaned when it's flavors burst inside my mouth.

Stella: Do you like it, Cassie?

She asked with an apologetic tone. I looked at her. She had a guilty smile on her face. I stood up and hugged her.

Cassie: Of course I love it, mom. I know you were just worried about me.

I whispered in her ear. We broke the hug and she pecked my forehead. It felt good to be part of their family.

Mr Hunt: Having a good time together, I see.

Mr Hunt said in a teasing tone. Stella slapped his arm playfully, then hugged him.

Mr Hunt: What you two are doing today?

He asked me as they both sat on their chairs.

Cassie: We are going shopping today. Then he said he has a surprise for me.

I replied with my mouth filled with cookies.

Stella: Slow down Cassie. They are all yours.

Stella said with a giggle. I grabbed another cookie and was about to take another bite when someone snached it from my hand. I turned to look and found Chris standing. He sat beside me and ate the whole cookie.

Chris: Didn't she say slow down?

He said in a teasing tone and k stuck my tongue out.

After the breakfast, Chris took me shopping. But I could see we weren't going in the direction of the shopping mall.

Cassie: Chris, where are we going?

I asked suspiciously.

Chris: You'll see Candy. Enjoy the ride. Why do you care? Don't you trust me?

He asked me. I sighed in defeat.

Cassie: Of course I trust you. But you said we are going shopping.

I replied. He just flashed me his sexy smile and kept driving. I also didn't say anything else. After about an hour or so, he parked in front of a beautiful house. It wasn't big but it wasn't small either. With frowned brows, I was staring at the house. I didn't even notice, Chris was already out of the car and was standing beside me, holding the door open for me. I hopped out of the car and was looking at the house in awe. It was exactly like the house I had dreamt.

Chris: Do you like it?

He whispered in my ear and hugged me from behind.

Cassie: It's beautiful. I wish it would be my house. It's my dream house.

I replied in a dreamy tone.

Chris: It is your house, well our house.

He said and pecked my cheek. I was shocked. I turned to look at him and he was smiling.

Cassie: Is it a joke?

I asked and he shook his head.

Chris: This is your house Cassie.

He repeated himself with a huge grin. I squealed in happiness and jumped upon him. I wrapped my arms around his waist.

Cassie: How did you know?

I asked him.

Chris: I know everything about you.

He whispered in my ear. I blushed. He then grabbed my hand and led me into the house. I was shocked seeing the house from the inside. It was decorated exactly like I have always thought of decorating my own house. He pulled me towards the master bedroom. I gasped at the scene. A beautiful baby pink colored long dress was upon a dummy. It was a puffy dress. I looked at Chris who had a huge grin on his handsome face.

Cassie: So that's why we didn't go shopping.

I asked him and he shrugged his shoulders.

Chris: Maybe. Do you like it?

Cassie: Yes, it's beautiful.

I replied with shining eyes. He pushed me on the bed then he laid beside me. He pulled me closer and I laid my head on his chest.

Cassie: Sometimes, it feels like a dream.

I said in a dreamy tone.

Chris: What do you mean?

He asked me.

Cassie: This all, you and me together. It feels like a dream.

He smiled and pinched my chin lightly. He guided my lips to his and kissed me passionately. We broke the kiss after a minute and he smiled.

Chris: It is reality. And I promise you to be with you till my last breath.

He said and kissed me again.

Father: Now I announce you as husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride.

Father announced Iris and Scott husband and wife. We all cheered as they both kissed each other. It looked all dreamy. With teary eyes, I kept looking at the couple. I didn't notice the hand on my back was now gone. Iris pulled back and looked at us. She covered her mouth with her hand and gasped. I looked around in confusion and found Chris on one knee. He was holding a ring in his hand and was looking incredibly handsome. I clapped my hand over my mouth as tears started flowing freely from my eyes. I couldn't believe it was happening. And he said it. He had told me that he would propose to me in front of the world. He wasn't lying.
