Marigold — Chapter 37

Mari's POV

"Dad, we need to do something about this," I heard Ashton reasoned. All of us were now gathered in Uncle Seth's house after our parents asked us to come here directly.

I came along with Atlantis and Y. The others as soon came after. Z kissed my cheeks and hugged me immediately when he saw me.

"I know, Ash. But we need to consider a lot of things. And we have to wait for your uncle and aunt Soo to arrive," uncle Seth messed up Ashton's hair, who looked very exhausted and stressed out.

My eyes caught aunt Max's and she urged me to come over and gave me a hug.

She cupped my cheeks and pouted.

"This is also not you, and Z's fault, okay?"

I bit my lower lip and is unable to respond. Apparently, Zamara got into another fight because of Z and I. We all knew Zamara ever let it slide whenever we or our families are involved. The thing now is, it was four versus Zamara and even though Zammy knows how to use her fist, she still took quite a toll n her body.

Uncle Storm is fuming. He's now at school at wanted to have an investigation about it. And this is how we found out Zammy had been dealing so much stress lately. The thing is, Zammy gets so affected about everything and because of my recent marriage scandal with Z, it seems that things had gotten worse especially for her.

I heard Zammy snapped when one kid asked if we actually have share casual sex with each of our uncle's kids.

"Baby, it's not a crime to fall in love. And I'd welcome you any day because my baby loves you,"

"Mom, stop calling me your baby," I heard Z groan. He was standing right next to his mom but I saw how worried he looked.

Atlantis was hugging aunt Zanaya, who also shared her experience earlier.

"I don't care. I'm filing a case. Their parents better find an attorney to back up their asses," I heard my Mom talking with my Dad on the balcony. They were there but I can hear my mom screaming since earlier. She had gotten so mad after she saw Zamara's marks and she also learned about the things those kids had said about me.

The girls that Zamara had encountered are repeat offenders. It appears that their parents came with them after being called at school and didn't even show any sign of remorse about what happened. Aunt Soo said one parent even said that maybe it's true because it's probably something my parents did during their younger years too.

And my Mom snapped at that. She can't believe we are being sexualized because we are their kids. It must have hurt her so badly.

"Cupcake, listen. Let us fix this first, okay?" I can hear my father cooing my Mom hugging her as she cries and my gaze fell down on the ground.

Aunt Max pulled me in for a hug. I can hear Louise already crying too.

"Do something about it, Raze," Aunt Joy's words ring into my ears. "This is getting serious. We can't let the kids suffer any more than this. I don't want them to hate the fact that they are our kids. Things shouldn't work like that,"

"Z, baby, bring Mari at the kitchen and give her water,"

It wasn't long when I felt Z's arm wrapped around mine as he leads me to the kitchen. My eyes were blurry because I can no longer stop crying.

I can't help but blame myself for starting this. It was because of us that this happened.

When we reached the kitchen, I felt his hands on my waist and my body got lifted on the ground. The next thing I knew; I was already sitting on the kitchen counter.

Z cupped my cheeks and wipe away my tears...

"Baby, please stop crying... It breaks my heart to see you like this," he whispered. With my blurry vision, I can recognize the worry in his expression.

"We'll fix this, okay? Our family will do. They always do,"

My heart clenched at his words.

"I know. But it just hurts to hear my Mom crying. Why do they have to experience hate at this point? They were hurt before. And now they keep getting hurt because of us. Now I feel like our relationship caused this mess,"

Z pulled me closer and kissed my forehead.

"Mari, even if we are together or not, people just hate our families because they are successful. This will eventually happen in the future too, maybe not because of us but because of someone else. No matter what happens, do not blame yourself for it okay?"

"But what if we're not together?"

The words got stuck on my throat, and I wasn't even sure I was able to say those words without my voice cracking.

I saw his brows furrowing.

"There can never be us not being together.  I will always find a way.  I love you, Mari. I love you so much that I'm willing to lose myself if it's you,"

I felt his hands on my own, pressing it together and somehow, I suddenly felt secured.

"Promise me, baby. Please promise me you won't give up on us ever. I love you, Mari. Not to be selfish but I was half glad that news about us getting married came out. That way, I won't have to deal with those guys hitting on you," he stated, trying to change the mood and I pouted.

"Dad was very upset about it. I guess he had gotten shocked about the possibility of me walking out of his house one day because I'm already getting married," I added.

Z smiled at me before leaning closer, giving me a sweet kiss on my lips.

"Don't give up on us, okay? There are so many things I wanted to do with you. I want to travel the world with you, and experience new things with you beside me. Baby, loving you was the greatest thing I told my Mom, you don't even know how loud she screamed because of that,"

He then pulled me in for a hug and I wrapped my arms around him too.

I want to believe that things will get better for us. I love Z. I love him so much I'm willing to risk everything for us, right now.
