RED'S POV

I laughed softly at what the designer said, earning me a confused gaze from both Sean and the designer. Eric planned to take me back, so maybe, he prepared ahead for my gown. Through the years of choosing by himself the dress I would be wearing on all the occasions I attended with him, I no longer wondered if he made another one for me.

"I'm just wondering who the woman Eric is fooling around with, this time."

"I can't imagine how he fools around with someone new but still insists on winning the previous one." Sean scoffed, gathering himself a curious glance from the designer.

"It's his business we shouldn't be meddling with," I answered, trying to cut off the topic.

"As long as he won't meddle with the present."

I winked at the designer who then looked at me, perhaps finding herself trapped within our discussion.

"What would you like to suggest, ma'am?" I asked her opinion to put an end to this meeting.

She smiled, and her fingers turned the pages fast until she stopped on the elite section.

"This is our new design, and I'm sure you'll look perfect in this," she said, running her eyes on me, from top to bottom.

"Okay, then. You know what's best for me." I closed the book, and she asked me to stand up to have my measurements taken.

While we were still discussing the kind of fabrics she would be using, the nurse I hired came in. Her eyes lit up when she saw me, but she covered her mouth when she noticed that I was talking to someone else.

I smiled and watched her as she walked past us. Suddenly, her figure reminded me of the nurse who brought the flowers to my room in the hospital. I blinked many times to convince myself I was wrong. The flowers came from Eric, and according to her, she ran away from his company in Sama Island, so it looked impossible that she was still working for Eric.

"Miss Hazel, have you been in the hospital last week?" I asked her as soon as the designer left.

She pulled up her brows together and asked back, "Hospital?"

I looked at her confused expression, and I decided to drop the subject. "Never mind, Miss Hazel. I just thought you visited me at the hospital."

"I did not," she spread her palms out and shrugged her shoulders, denying my claim that it was her.

I let it pass since Sean and I were catching for the next flight bound for Hawaii. Sean decided that we leave the country as soon as possible before the international flights would stop for the planned lockdown.

"Miss Hazel, kindly tell Dr. Mimi and Dr. Leila that I will keep in touch with them."

"Got it, doc. But if you don't mind, where are you going?"

"Hawaii," Sean replied for me when he saw my hesitation. I just did not feel safe about telling anyone where we were going.

"I see. Enjoy, both of you," Hazel giggled. Probably, feeling excited for both of us.

After the next few hours, the flight attendant already announced that in a few minutes, we would be landing at the Honolulu International Airport. I got excited. Ever since my childhood days, I never felt as carefree as now-- away from work, away from Eric, and away from the troubling news in my country.

_______

We stayed in one of the most famous hotels and resorts of Waikiki, where our room was just around three blocks away from the sea. The famous Mount Leahi, called Diamond Head, was our backdrop, adding to the spectacular view of the place.

I didn't care where we were. I just knew that we were on the south shore of Honolulu, the so-called playground of the Hawaiian Royalty before this place was introduced to the world. Today, this place has become one of the global tourist attractions and home to world-class shopping, dining, and entertainment.

"Do you want to learn how to surf?" Sean asked one afternoon as we sat down on the sand, watching the few surfers catching the waves before the sunset.

"It takes a long time to learn, and our time is not enough," I replied, staring at the silhouette of the Diamond Head, a volcano crater that looked like the back and fin of a tuna fish, occupying the distant horizon.

"Let's learn a little while we are here, and learn more as we go to other surfing beaches around the world," Sean chirped.

"I'm poor at balancing. I don't even know how to ride a bicycle."

"We would be taking up lessons, and we will be learning together."

"Okay, then," I conceded. I just didn't want to dampen his spirit.

He pulled me closer to himself then kissed me hard on the lips. I stiffened when I sensed he was carried away. Ever since that heated moment back home where he stopped, he never kissed me again on the lips. Yes, he cuddled me while we slept, he planted kisses on my temples, but never the passionate kiss anymore.

"Don't ever start if you don't want to finish it," I said smiling, after he stopped, allowing me to take a deep breath.

He chuckled, but I saw the guilt in his eyes. He then hugged me tightly and whispered something that thawed my heart. "I can't wait to hear you say you love me, Red."

It was my turn to feel guilty. For the past few days that we were here, he took care of all my needs. He massaged my feet and my whole body every night before we slept. It all started when I complained that my feet ached from walking around the beach.

He made me cups of coffee every morning and gave me glasses of milk before bedtime. He pressed my clothes after claiming it from the laundry shops and hang it for me inside the closet. He placed food on my plate, cutting those steaks in tiny pieces for an easier bite. He just did almost everything for me, and never had I felt pampered this way.
