MEGAN

FORREST WAS the sole heir of his father’s fortune. He donated every penny to the Cancer Research Center in Manchester. Last month, I was thankful that we would able to adjust Forrest’s schedule for the groundbreaking of his old house into a clinic. Yes, my man was a damn philanthropist.

Myra had a successful charity event on behalf of the battered women in the city. Alan was back in town to continue his businesses.

And I, on the other hand, had no more escape but to accept the job offer in his Atto Tech Company. That was three months ago. At first, it was awkward when I was welcomed into the office. Everyone raised a brow, but when they found out that I was dating their boss, they backed off and treated me with respect as the new financial manager to the most eligible bachelor CEO in the city.

Two days ago, we were back in New York, and hopefully, we would be there when Camila and Pyke welcomed their first son. Kelly was still closed to Forrest. Blaine and Xandry, well, they were very happy with their kids.

Then, Baby Agnes was born healthy at seven pounds. And as a big sister, I was so thrilled that Mom made it through despite her age. After a day of her recovery in the hospital, she and my sister were released.

Mom and the sperm donor, Trevor had great chemistry, and they were officially dating because I could feel the sexual tension between them even from a distance. And the adoration in Trevor’s eyes every time he looked at Mom and Agnes was off the chart.

“You shouldn’t be carrying, Mom.” I stood from the couch when Mom walked into the living room with Baby Agnes in her arms. “Let me take her and have a seat, please?”

“You worried too much. I have to eventually ambulate for fast recovery, Meggie.” She gave me Agnes, who slightly opened and squinted her blue eyes.

“Aw. She’s so pretty.”

Mom glanced at the guys, and I looked at the love of my life. He must have felt me staring at him. Forrest smiled and winked at me, then his gaze fell to the baby in my arms, taking a few seconds.

“That man is madly in love with you, Meggie. And he wants to have children with you.”

“You’re being ridiculous.” I rolled my eyes. “You read it wrong. The effect of painkillers must have not worn off yet, mother.”

“I am drugs-free, Meggie. Haven’t you noticed his gesture? Of course, you didn’t.” Mom literally rolled her eyes at me.

“Well, mother, we’ve only been dating for less than a year. That topic didn’t cross our minds yet. We didn’t even talk about our future, and I am still on birth control, duh.”

“Trust me, he wants to. He just wanna make it slow because of you, honey. Before you two were together, it didn’t even occur to you to date, what more raising your own kid.” Mom’s words made me think.

Forrest and I talked a lot about many things, especially when we were in France. We made love in the cellar. It was funny when he mentioned about building his own house in that vineyard.

“He doesn’t want to scare you. And you two are still having fun, exploring, and in the stage of getting to know each other. But he always wanted to have a family.”

“I love him, Mom. So much that I don’t think I can live without him. I can’t even believe I’m saying this. If he wants to have children, I will give him. All he has to do is ask. He may be a jealous, overprotective, and annoying hot CEO, but I know he will be a good father. People say that an apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, but that tree might be the man who treated him as his own blood.”

“I can see that. He adores Kelly, and so as Agnes.”

“And so as Ben and Sammer.”

“Your friends have kids now, and I’m sure he wants a kid on his own soon, but I want you to walk down the aisle before getting pregnant, Meggie.”

I laughed, and I might have surprised Baby Agnes. “Oops. Sorry, baby Agnes.”

Since I spent a lot of time with Forrest, my view of relationships had changed. All I wanted was to give him the love and happiness I could ever give. When people said to keep a little love to yourself, I would say, I’d rather be selfless. Forrest was the best thing that ever happened to me. We may fight over something, but that was part of nurturing what we had. I still loved every second of it, and we still ended in the same bed, cuddling each other.

“Hey, you should not do that,” Forrest whispered. “Can I take her so that you two can laugh however you want.”

I gave him Agnes, and Mom raised a brow at me as if telling me she was right.

“Fine.” I mouthed and smiled at her in delight.

“You’re so good with kids, Forrest,” Mom commented. I knew she wanted to say more, but I gripped her knee to stop her blurting out what we talked about earlier.

Forrest might have noticed my discomfort. He smiled at us. “Kids are like little angels. And they’re adorable no matter how naughty there are.”

***

“What were you and your mom talking about earlier?” Forrest took off his shirt, and I was shrugging off my dress.

“Nothing. Just some motherhood stuff, and you’re not interested in that sort of thing, Forrest.”

He wrapped his arms around my waist and pressed his hard body against mine. His lips twitched at the corner as if he meant something else. “I’m always interested in everything you talk about.”

He leaned down, and I chuckled and claimed his lips before he could talk further that might freak me out if Mom was right. Flame scorched my heated skin as his hands traveled down my ass, giving them an equal measure of a squeeze, while I was busy zipping down his pants. He gasped into our mouths as I let his already hard length free, giving it slow strokes.

Heat pooled low in my stomach. My abdominal muscles contracted against his touch as his hand went lower where I ached the most. He gave me a long satisfying groan when he found me wet and ready for him.

All of a sudden, my mind went to mom’s words—what if I stopped taking my pills? How did it feel to have a growing baby inside me? Absolutely, as long as he would be with me.

He broke the kiss, exhaling deeply. At the sound of his deep frustrated voice, I opened my eyes, meeting his dark eyes, studying me intensely. “Megan, what is it? Your mind is somewhere in the alternate universe.” It definitely went there.

“I just love you, and after my conversation with Mom, I realize I haven’t given you enough.”

“Wrong, love. I love you. Your love is enough. You’ve given me almost everything. You are my everything, Megan.”
