His Majesty’s Possession — Chapter 06

Richard’s POV

The meeting with the board of directors took longer than expected, though it ended up giving me what I wanted exactly. A chance to expand my business chain. I’ll be acquiring the old building beside the Empires’ building and converting it to a hotel.

I left the office with my personal secretary to check out the building to see if it’s worth the stress and more than five hours meeting.

On getting to the Empires’ building, we were told that we’ll have to check with the previous owners to get the necessary documents that will facilitate the purchase of the building.

“Who did you say owns the building previously?” I asked when I saw the Malik proudly written on their elevator, doors and everything available here.

“Farad Malik, Sir” kill me already. Of all persons to collect a document from, Malik should have been the last.

“Are you stalking me now?” That voice that has tortured my dreams for the past three years now startled me as I was about getting into the elevator. She was clutching her purse bag which showed that she was already leaving.

“You know I don’t do things like that, Vanessa”

“People can change within three hours, so I can’t say what you can do and undo” I just shrugged off her comment and decided to ignore her.

“You still work here? Even after all the insults and abuses you receive each and every day” This new Vanessa baffles me. “You can come work for me anytime, your post is always vacant, Essa”

“One, I’ve already told you that I’m not Essa or whatever you call her and Second, ill rather eat dog poops and watch Bella ride me like a horse than work for you” With that, she left and when I turned to follow her, that was when my Personal Assistant called my attention back to why we were there.

We went into the administrative office and retrieved the documents we needed.

I was almost passing the bus station that was a few feet away from the building when I saw Vanessa entering the bus that just stopped and without thinking twice, I followed the bus.

Curiosity killed the cat but I know I have family that'll bury me.

Thirty minutes later, the bus stopped and checking closely I realized that Vanessa already came out.

I parked the car by the side of the road and I followed her

“Vanessa” I called out so it won't look like I was stalking her.

When she turned back and realized it was me, she quickly increased her pace without looking back.

I kept on following her, half walking and half running, she reached the front of an apartment and opened the door, before she could close it back, I quickly used my feet to block the door.

“You need to leave me alone” she commanded.

“I will but that'll be after you tell me your own side of the story. I'm not giving up on you anytime soon”

“I've already given up on you” She replied

“Why?” I asked

“Do you need a reason for that? You are too late to ask for my own side of the story. You should have asked back then before you instructed your family members to kick me out of the house in the middle of the night”

“What did you just say?”

“Now you're playing dumb with me, right? As if you didn't know”

“I….” Paused when I heard a tiny voice inside the house calling mommy.

“Miss Vanessa, I need to go home now, can you please come inside so you'll pay me before I go”

“I'm sorry Mrs. Smith, I'll come do that immediately”

She turned to face me “you're overstaying your welcome already, Richard. You need to leave right now”

Removing my leg from the door, I tried going inside but she won't let me in

“I'm serious Richard….”

“Mommy, who's that?” A little girl came to her side to hold her hand while looking at me with curiosity with those blue eyes that looked just like mine.

“Go inside Rachel, I'll come meet you” the little girl nodded and waved at me before going back inside, my heart melted.

“How old is she? She's my daughter, right?”

“Nope, she's Scarlett's daughter. The child you had with Vanessa is dead. She died that night three years ago”

“You need to stop all these Essa, this isn't funny anymore”

“Good night, Prince Charming” With that, she slammed the door shut in my face.
