His Majesty’s Possession — Chapter 05

Vanessa’s POV

Three years have passed since I had an encounter with death, that I survived a near death experience and three years, nine months, three days and two hours since I vowed never to have anything to do with the Prince or his family ever again.

After I was rescued that night by a God sent friend, I moved to Philadelphia with the little money I had, even though it was hard to get past the death of a child and betrayal from someone who I was just starting to trust, I didn’t have any other choice than to move on for my child.

Working minor jobs day and night, I was able to sustain my baby and myself for a while before I got a secretary job at Malik's company. That job sorted out most of my financial problems but emotional ones can’t be sorted with money.

I spent at least two years in Philadelphia before I got my transfer letter back to the place that I dreaded the most, where Richard resides. I didn’t have no other option that to go, if not ill definitely lose my job.

Moving back was hard because it took all the strength in me to go back to a place that I’ve vowed never to go back to. I didn’t make any close friends in Philly, so it was not hard parting with the few people I met there. I changed my name to Scarlet immediately and I got to Philly because I wanted to leave everything behind.

Malik’s group of companies in Philly was totally different from the one in New York. A human was the CEO over there and here, it’s a monster in a girl’s clothing.

Bella Malik is a devil incarnate herself. She has managed to turn herself into a mini god to her co-workers and employees. Within three months of getting there, she had managed to suck the life out of me, frustrated my entire being and turned me into a zombie walking in broad daylight.

It was during one of the frustrating events that she organized that I met Richard’s mother again.

I knew at that moment that meeting Richard will be anytime soon and that’s why as Bella told me to run after him and give him the so-called nonsense that she had done, I was ready to not be Vanessa but to be Scarlet.

After he defended my honor before Bella, he dragged me out of the place to his car.

“Get inside the car Vanessa, or I'll make you” Over my dead body

“You need to leave me alone and for the umpteenth time, I'm not Vanessa. You need to stop all these, please. You took me for the wrong person” I screamed at him.

“Just stop this madness, Vanessa please. Just stop. I've had enough of this for a whole night. You keep denying that fact. Did you lose your memory or something? Answer me, did you?” I ignored his question.

“Just get into the car and you can tell all about yourself. Maybe you're my Essa or you're Scarlett, I want to know. Please” he pleased and I was forced to reply him.

“I'm not going anywhere with you”

“Where do you think you'll go then? Back to your boss? You think she'll take you back?”

“You think you're better than her? I was even surprised when you stood up for me there, Richard, you’re annoying and what you did upstairs is annoying as anything. Wow, three years really change people, I was so stupid to pretend I didn't know you”

“Vanessa?” he tried reaching out to her and I slapped my hand away

“Vanessa? Did you just call me by the name of the most clueless, stupid and foolish woman in the whole world? Vanessa is dead, she died that night along with her child. I'm really apologizing to my dead child for pretending to not know her father. When I could have hit you in the face and get revenge for all you did to us back then. You're heartless Richard. What did you even say upstairs the other time? Baby mama? Wake up your highness, we're over. I hate you Richard, I hate you with all the strength left in me”

I felt bad at my statement but at the same time, I was relieved.
