SHE TOSSED her clutch, kicked off her high-heels, threw herself to my bed, and rubbed her temples.

I WOKE up to the frequent ringing of the phone—I was sure that was not mine. That call could be urgent though.

“Westley? Your phone.” When I patted my side. Sadly, it was empty.

She probably went to check Keene. It was four in the morning.

After washing my face and brushing my teeth, I put my trousers on, a shirt, and the hotel slippers.

I grabbed her clutch and walked out of my room. Their rooms were just across mine. I knocked on her door and waited.

“You must be the boyfriend.” A female sophisticated voice behind me made me turn around. I didn’t miss the vile in her tone as she emphasized the words the boyfriend.

“Do I know you?”

She looked like she just came from a political party, wearing a straight fit black dress. Her blonde hair looked like she spent hours on the salon. She was beautiful in her own way and she must have spent thousands of dollars on her face alone. But there was something in her eyes that I didn’t fancy in a bit.

“You’re not Keene. So you must be the boy toy.”

My eyes narrowed. “Pardon?”

“Well, look at what she has here.” She inspected me from head to toe, then crossed her arms over her chest and tapped her finger on chin. “I know my sister. She used to have men in her life all at one time, and I admire how she easily lures men into her bed, just like what she did to my fiancé.”

My expression turned into a stone at how she thought of Westley so low. I already crossed my arms over my chest, towered her, and clenched my jaw hard not to give her the satisfaction she wanted.

“What have you seen in her? She has nothing other than her what? Her body?”

“Look, woman. You don’t have to say shit because I don’t know you, and I don’t know what you will get with this nonsensical conversation.” I was about to turn my back when I remember something. “Wait. Yeah, you’re right. She doesn’t have anything. She lost everything because her evil sister took everything away from her. I heard that she has these poisonous claws and venomous bites that she is willing to destroy anyone who comes her way, am I right?”

“You don’t know anything about me!” she spat, anger boiling up.

“Then why did you have to come all the way here—” I waved my hand. “Just to insult her, babe? Unless what I heard is true.”

“You don’t know me.” She glared. And yes, she was evil in disguise and about to show off her true color. “What is it with you British people with your chivalry over a woman like her?”

“Well, you clearly don’t know me, and you don’t know anything about Harry, as well. I like her just the way she is. She might not have money, family, or something that you have right now, but she definitely has us. I and Keene are her family. So listen to me very carefully, woman. While the London bridge still stands, you don’t get a chance to lay a finger or dig your claws on her again, do you understand me? You already got what you wanted, so stay the bloody hell off!”

“Of course, she’s not satisfied with one man in her life.” She chuckled evilly. “She has to have at least another man to fuck her knowing that her husband is about to die. Poor Keene.”

“What did you just say?” With a shock, the question slipped from my mouth before my brain could process.
