I Love My Brother's Best Friend — Chapter 16

Adam's POV

What had just happened in here?

Chase had done a lot of shitty things to Skye, but they were never enough to make her cry and screamed at him to leave. She was usually pretty good at keeping her cool about his pranks and sly comments. So I was left baffled about what really happened.

This kind of made me wish I hadn't gone to get food. If I hadn't gone then I probably would've known what the hell was going on right now between Chase and Skye. And maybe even Jake. Though he seemed to just be defending Skye.

The two people I had trusted her with are the two people who managed to make Skye cry. That was just perfect, I thought sarcastically.

I walked back into Skye's room. She was sprawled out next to Aaron who'd been trying to comfort her for the last half an hour while tried to figure out what happened. I failed.

Once I walked into the room Aaron's head snapped away from Skye to see me.

"Mind giving us a second?“ I cocked my head to the door.

"No problem," he stood up and gave Skye a sympathetic look before leaving. He definitely knew what happened.

"Skye?"

She sat up to look at me, "Yes?"

"What, um," I stuttered thinking of a away to bring this up lightly, "What happened with you and Chase?"

"What do you think happened?" she gave me an odd look.

"Well," I stratched the back of my

head and laughed awkwardly, "You and Chase had never had the greatest relationship. A lot could've happened."

"We just got into an argument."

She narrowed her eyes at me as if demanding that I ask her no more questions. Unfortunately for her I was planning to ask a whole lot more.

"Skye, we have to talk about this."

"No, we don't."

"Yeah, we do. I need to know what happened."

She growled, "Why don't you go ask Chase, come back, tell me what he said, and then I'll tell you if it was right."

"You're being ridiculous," I groaned.

"Can you just leave and get Aaron back in here?"

I sighed but nodded before I headed off to Chase's.

Skye's POV

"Would it be wrong to have you or Adam punch Chase?" I asked Aaron.

He laughed lightly, "I don't think you'll have to ask Adam."

"I didn't tell him what Chase did," I whispered.

"Oh," he blinked, "So you're still hoping you and Chase can work this out."

"Not exactly, well yes, maybe," I sighed, "I don't know."

He nodded, "That's fme. I can't believe what Jake told you though."

"He was just trying to protect me from Chase," I defended him.

"Well yeah, but I was talking about his mom," he mused, "That's huge. I can't even hate him anymore."

"Yeah..." I trailed off lamely.

Maybe Jake wasn't so bad.

Chase's POV

I couldn't believe I just said that. I meant about the slut thing. The rest of the things I said I believed. lake was just trying to get me out of the picture so he could win our bet.

I began to toss the basketball I had in my hands again.

Toss.

Catch.

Catch

There was a knock at my door and I yelled that the door was open.

Shit, it was Adam. I prayed Skye hadn't told him the true story. I would've been so screwed if she told. I was like a dead man walking.

"Okay, Chase," he said, oddly calm, "What did you do to Skye?"

I suppressed a smile, "She didn't tell you?"

He rolled his eyes, "I know it's like your thing to try to make her feel bad, but you seriously wanted to make her cry?"

I sat up straight on my bed and growled, "I'd never try to hurt her."

"Fine," he grimaced annoyed with me or just the situation, I couldn't tell, "just tell me what you did then."

"I, um, I" I stammered and I tried to find an explaination as I stood up.

I could skip the part about Jake telling Skye and just go straight to beating him up, but then I'd have to tell him how Jake and Sky I paused in my thoughts. What were Jake and Skye? They had definitely known each other before Jake came to our school. Did they date or something?

They did probably date. He'd touch Skye in ways I never did and probably would never get the chance to again after what I had done last night. I threw the ball across the room and it hit the wall so hard it left a dent.

Adam's eyes widened as he stared at me.

I sighed, "I kind of attacked Jake last night and then implied she was going to, I don't know how exactly to say it. I kind of said some stuf

"Like what?" he raised an eyebrow and crossed his arms over his chest.

"I kinda told her she was going to become ah, easy," I strached the back of my head awkwardly and hoped he wouldn't kill me.

He laughed, "No, seriously what did you say?"

I looked down at the floor, "I wasn't kidding. I felt like a total tool."

His jaw clenched as he looked at me.

I braced myself to be punched or something like that, I deserved a good punch. The ones Jake got in, while strong, weren't good enough. I deserve to be bruised up and bleeding from more then just my face.

"Okay..." He trailed of uncomfortable, "I guess you've got to go apologize to her."

Shock must've been coloring my face. Adam wasn't goiing to kill me. I suppose it helped that I convenietly left out mine and his sister's relationship. But I just couldn't tell him. Adam wouldn't have trusted me with her to begin with considering all the girls I had been with, now he was never going to let me near his baby sister ever again.

"Yeah," I nodded, "I know."

Skye's POV

I laid in my bed thinking about how everything was going to hell. Just as I was about to fall asleep I realized something.

Tomorrow was Monday.

I'd have to see Chase.

I took a deep breath before walking into the class I had with Chase and lake. I usaully sat right next to Chase as of lately, but I wasn't going to go there today.

Sitting next to Chase would've been too much considering what he'd done last weekend. He hadn't even tried to apologize to me yet... Not that I wanted to talk to him anyway.

I slipped into the sit on the opposite side of the room from Chase. Jake sat two seats behind me and while I much rather sit next to him than the girl currently next to me who was continuely stratching her scalp, I couldn't. I didn't want to give Chase the wrong impression about Jake and me.

I stole a glance in his general direction. Just like Jake there were still bruises and slight cuts on his face. That was probably why the gossip traveled so fast around the school. To see the two of them all beat up it was pretty obvious. I mean everyone had already known they didn't like each other, they just didn't know why. Now that a fist tight had sprung up they were killing themselves over what the reason could've been.

I sighed and turned my head to the front of the class room again to listen to my boring teacher drone on. However it was still better than thinking about Chace and Jake causing this rumor to spread like wild tire.

The girl next to me the one with the scalp problem handed me a folded piece of lose leaf. I looked up to make sure the teacher wasn't looking before I opened it. I frowned as I noticed Chase's hand writing. However I decided to read the note anyway.

Meet me outside by the brick wall our next of period?

I wanted to rip that paper to shreds. Was he freaking kidding me? He wanted me to meet him outside after what he did? I sure as hell was not going to do that. I srunched up my nose as I re-read it.

I did respond though. If I had it would've just been a long sttring of curse words scrolled out onto a pathetic sheet of paper.

The bell rang and I couldn't have been more happy. I hated being stuck in that room with Chase. It made me want to tare my brown hair out.

I was just at the door when I felt a hand on my wrist holding me back.

I spun around to find Chase holding me. I scanned the roomlake was alreay gone. Everyone but Chase and me were gone. Damnit, I scolded myself, why did I have to take so long to pack up? Stupid free period making me think I could take me time.

I scowled down at his hand and seethed, "Get off me."

He gave me a sad look before pushing me against the wall with him against me. He had pinned my arms above my head with his hands.

"Not until you listen to me," he bargined.

"You know my legs are still free, right?" I asked.

"Yeah, what does that have to do withOw!" I kneed him right in his 'sensetive area' forcing him to let go and back off me so he could cup his crotch.

I smirked but was still so angry with him, "Don't ever touch me again."

"Skye," he moaned in agony, "Just hear me out."

"No, sorry," I crossed my arms, "I'm too busy slutting it up."

"I didn't mean to say that," he dropped his hands, but this face was still red with pain.

I cocked my head to the side and raised an eyebrow, "What did you mean to say then?"

"I-I don't know," he sighed, "Just not that."

"Fine," I uncrossed my arms and began to walk away then called over my shoudler, "Let me know when you figure it out."
