Werewolf World Novel Chapter 1
PROLOGUE
Ramon Wayne, Alpha of the Bloodmoon pack, tied his mask over his head. It was a thin black stripe that covered the upper part of his face, with cut-out holes for his eyes. It was the perfect disguise.
His pack was at war with the Silverpaws, and he had just discovered the perfect way to end the war without further bloodshed: kidnap Sonia, the only daughter of Alpha Fenris, and demand that they meet his demands before he releases her. Ramon knew the spoiled little princess was highly valued by her father and seven brothers. They’d bow to his demands immediately to ensure her safety.

SONIA’S POV
The moon was full, again! I hated full moons. They reminded me that another month had come and gone, and my brothers were still fighting a war my father had decided on a whim. I just hoped they would be all right.
I heard the sound of a knock over the loud howling of autumn’s wind, and I smiled. Even now, my father still came to bid me goodnight and kiss my forehead before I slept.
“Come in, Papa,” I said, the smile still playing on my lips, as I walked over to the windows to stare out at our amazing garden downstairs.
The door opened, and I turned around, but it wasn’t my father. Freya, my maid, stood giggling mischievously.
“Freya! Why are you here?” I asked, though I was very pleased that she was here. Freya and I were secret best friends. I hid that from my father, though. As loving and tender as my father was with me, I knew he could be very cruel with other members of his pack. He would probably have Freya banished for daring to befriend me. There were a lot of things my father did not know about me, like how I usually snuck food and water down to the prisoners, and how I sometimes stole his money and shared it among the slaves living in our slave quarters.
Freya giggled again as she came in, closing the door behind her.
“You know it’s a little risky for you to come here. My father could be here at any time to kiss me goodnight.”
Freya waved off my concern. “Bah! Alpha Fenris isn’t coming tonight, trust me.”
“Why?” I asked in alarm, as I felt fear squeeze at my heart. “What has happened to him?” My father had only ever missed kissing me goodnight once, and that was on the day my mother died.
Freya shrugged. “I think there was something very important for him to attend to. Derrick brought a message to him about an Alpha asking to see him by the borders, or something like that. He dressed and left. I don’t think he’s coming back tonight, but even if he does, it would not be now.”
I stared at her, trying to see if there was something else she was not telling me. Maybe she was trying, in a way, to make unpleasant news less shocking to me.
“Sonia! I promise, your father is okay, and he would not be coming back anytime soon. You can relax.”
I let out a breath. “Okay, if you say so.” My lips curved into a wide smile. “That means we have all the time in the world! Oh, Freya!” I grabbed both of her hands and did a little spin with her. Both of us were laughing and a bit unsteady on our feet when I finally let go.
“Alright! Get on the bed, and spill all the juicy details of every single rumor you’ve heard since the past week, and that’s on command as the Alpha’s daughter,” I said jokingly, and she laughed but shook her head.
“I have more juicy news than mere gossip. I found a Bloodmoon soldier outside in your garden.”
My eyes widened with fear. The Bloodmoon pack was the pack my father had declared war against. My brothers were currently in that territory fighting. What was a Bloodmoon soldier doing here? Had he come to kill my father? To raid my pack?
Freya laughed nervously. “Relax, Sonia. He’s injured. I came to ask your permission to help him.”
My mind immediately switched from fear to protectiveness. I always had the instinctive need to heal injured people and animals. “Of course, Freya! Where is he? Wait, let me get my healing kit.”
Within a minute, I had put together everything I felt we would need, and Freya started leading me outside to the spot she had seen the soldier. It never occurred to me to ask how he had ended up in my garden in the first place. Maybe if I had, I would have saved myself from what happened next.
“He was here earlier, I swear it! Now, I don’t see him,” Freya muttered in confusion. We were both standing outside, under a large canopy tree that hid the moonlight.
“We should have come with a lamp,” I whispered softly, as fear made me tremble. I was an omega, and so my instincts weren’t very sharp, but I could swear I felt a powerful aura. I didn’t ask Freya if she felt it too, because I didn’t want her to get frightened as well. I was the Alpha’s daughter; it was my duty to take the lead in situations like this.
“I’ll go get a lamp,” Freya whispered, and from the sound of her voice, I could tell she too was afraid.
I nodded, wanting desperately to call her back as she ran off towards the manor house. The wind picked up, blowing my hair wildly and wrapping it around my face.
I closed my eyes to stop my hair from stinging my irises, and before I could open them, I felt a powerful hand clamp over my mouth and another circle my waist, pinning me against a large masculine body.
The healing kit fell from my hand. I tried to scream in fear, but his hand pressed hard over my mouth, hurting me. Tears blurred my vision, and I found out my strength was useless against him.
I felt his breath brush against my ear as he whispered, “Now listen, Sonia, I know you’re probably a spoiled princess who is used to having things her way, but you better do as you are told, or else I would hurt you in the worst way you cannot even begin to imagine.”
His words cut fear through my heart. I had an avid imagination, and I did not know what level of pain was beyond that.
“I’m going to remove my hand slowly from your mouth. Do you promise not to scream? Nod if you will not scream.”
I nodded, still crying. My tears streamed down my face to pool where his hand cupped my mouth.
“Now, you lead the way out,” he whispered softly after he finally released me.
I wanted to ask who he was and why he was kidnapping me, but when I opened my mouth to speak, only one word came out: “Mate.”
I stared in shock at the dancing trees, and he flipped me around immediately so that I was face to face with the most perfect vision of a man I had ever seen.
There was a look of surprise in his eyes. “No. This can’t be,” he whispered softly.

SONIA’S POV
“I reject you as my mate,” he said, irritation lacing his words.
“That’s not how it works,” I found myself saying, even though I was still very much afraid. “You have to state your full name and who you are.”
He growled. “I know.”
I remained quiet then. A part of me felt disappointed that my mate was from an enemy pack and that his first thought was to reject me. On the other hand, I was also curious. I wanted to hear his name and who he was as he rejected me.
“Come on,” the soldier said suddenly. “You’ll be rejected later.” Before I could utter another word, he brought out a handkerchief and pressed it against my nose.
It had a sweet and pungent smell, like the glue I had once seen my father use. I closed my eyes and tried to remember what it was he was gluing, and soon, I drifted into unconsciousness.
When I woke up, I was in bed, in a strange tent. My hands and legs were bound. My throat felt sore, and my eyes hurt like I had been crying all night. I just wanted to go home.
A lady walked into the tent, her eyes widening in surprise. Then she turned and fled, screaming something about the enemy being awake.
For some reason, I started crying again. My father had no idea where I was, so how could he find me to save me? I could now see the folly in going out unprotected to ‘heal’ an enemy soldier.
The flap covering the tent pushed back again, and a man entered. He was tall and broad, with the same dark hair and penetrating grey eyes as the man who had kidnapped me, but I couldn’t tell if it was him. The soldier who had kidnapped me earlier had worn a mask.
“I see you’ve woken up,” he said with the same soft baritone that sent a shiver down my spine. I remained silent, not knowing how I was expected to answer.
The man walked over to sit on the bed, and I shivered and scooted as far away from him as possible.
“I see you’re confused, so let me explain everything to you, my dear Sonia. Your evil father is a bad Alpha; he has many powerful enemies. I am one of those enemies. I have heard that he cherishes you most among all his possessions, so that’s why I kidnapped you. I have sent a message to your father, telling him that I have you, and if he ever wants to see you again, he should call off the war between his pack and mine.”
“The Bloodmoon pack?” I asked the obvious. “What if he doesn’t comply with your demand?”
The man smiled then, and it was the coldest and cruelest smile I had ever seen. It sent shivers down my spine.
His hand came up to play in my hair. “I hope for your sake, he does. If he doesn’t comply, I’ll sell you at an auction to the highest bidder. The shame and reproach that alone would bring to your pack would be worth it. So, your father can either withdraw his troops honorably from my pack or have his only daughter, the apple of his eye, bartered out like a common whore.”
He stood up then and turned to leave. I don’t know where the courage came from, but I found myself suddenly a little bit angrier than I was afraid. “My father will find me, you know? And when he does, he’ll punish you for kidnapping me. I shudder to think of what he’ll do to you.”
He turned around, a small smile playing at his lips. “You do, don’t you? My dear Sonia, there is no way on earth your father can find this place. My trackers made sure they lost our scent and masked our auras. No one will find you. So, let’s wait for your father’s reply. It is his reply that will seal your fate.”
He turned and left, and my courage crumbled to dust. I folded myself into a ball, rocking back and forth, as I waited for my father’s reply. I felt a bit confident, though. I knew my father would not let anything bad happen to me.
Soon, the soldier returned, carrying a plate of food and a jug of water. He, however, refused to untie me, and I felt very embarrassed as he fed me, his grey eyes unreadable as they pinned mine.
I was forced to look at him as I ate, to take note of his dark looks accentuated by those pale eyes. I hated to admit it, but my captor was a very handsome man. It would be a shame when my father found him and killed him.
I stayed in that tent for three days, with my hands and feet bound. I was given only a few minutes in the morning and at night for my toilette, and then, it was back to sitting or lying in bed without anyone to talk to. It was as though everyone avoided me like a plague. Even my captor did not come to see me. After the first time he had fed me, he never fed me again. Instead, I had different people for each meal. They were so random that I could not even keep a conversation with them, knowing that by the next mealtime, I would be fed by someone else.
On the third day, I woke up in the morning, expecting the usual routine, but instead of a guard coming to untie me for my usual morning toilette, the flap of the tent opened, and my captor walked in.
His eyes pinned mine. His whole face was an expressionless mask. For a moment, he did not say anything, merely stood there, staring at me. I was forced to take in his whole appearance. The way his dark hair curled at the nape of his neck, the way his full brows shadowed his eyes, making them look more sinister. His lips were curled up in a frozen, half-smile—whether cynical or amused, I could not tell—it was a smile that did not reach his eyes.
“Your father has replied,” he said finally.
“He has!” I bounded off the bed in excitement, forgetting that both my feet and my hands were bound. In my clumsiness, I almost toppled over. Strong hands shot out immediately to catch me.
I felt my breath leave me as my body slammed against his rock-hard body for the second time since we met. He smelled of lime and sandalwood. Somehow, being this close to him, feeling the heat radiate from his body reminded me that he was a person, and not entirely the handsome monster I was painting him out to be. He was bent over me, one of his hands holding me up by the small of my back, while the other hung freely by my side. I felt his beard tickle my forehead, and when I raised my head, his lips were inches away from mine, his grey eyes pinned mine.
“What did my father’s message say?” I breathed out in a husky voice that did not at all sound like me.
My captor straightened and let go of me then. His face was no longer expressionless; it was filled with passionate anger and disdain.
“Your father is calling my bluff. He has refused to withdraw his soldiers from my pack. Alpha Fenris has sealed your fate. You will be sold at an auction to the highest bidder tomorrow.”
Fear, despair, and crushing sadness were a few of the emotions that invaded me. I couldn’t believe my father would abandon me to such a horrible fate. Maybe he had a plan. He would rescue me.
My captor turned to leave then, and I don’t know where my courage came from, but I shouted, “Wait!”
He stopped.
“You’ve not yet told me what you plan to do about our mate bond.”

SONIA’S POV
“That’s easy,” he replied without even turning around. “After you’re sold, and I hand you over to your owner, I’ll reject you then,” he said, confusing me even more. I waited until he had gone before I finally crumpled down in tears.
The next day came, and I was taken to an open square. It surprised me how many people had come for the auction. I couldn’t imagine that so many people were sick enough to want to buy another person, but I soon discovered I was not the only ‘item’ up for sale.
Stolen properties, illegal potions, and even people’s wolves, extracted and trapped in some glass-like object, were up for sale.
“Wolf essence,” the man guarding me whispered when he saw me staring in disbelief as the bids rose for the glass-like objects. “You can’t really extract a person’s wolf, but when you take the wolf essence, the wolf dies, and the person becomes wolfless.”
“What is the essence used for? Why is it extracted?” I found myself asking, surprised that he had even started talking to me in the first place.
He shrugged. “It’s used to make very dangerous weapons.”
“And how is the wolf essence extracted?” I asked again, sure that no one would willingly give up their wolf.
He laughed. “Trust me, you don’t want to know. It’s the most singularly painful experience anyone can have.”
For some reason, his explanation filled me with fear and even more questions. Someone bid a huge sum, and the essence was given to the person. “Next,” the man in charge bellowed, and I turned to look up at him.
“We have a woman, not too strong since she’s an omega, but she is very beautiful. She wouldn’t be suitable for a breeder since she’d only birth you omega children, but you can keep her around as a plaything. Oh! She’s also Alpha Fenris’s daughter, so if you want, you can use her to get to her father….”
He was still talking, but I could not hear anything else he said. My eyes glazed over, and it seemed like everything was happening in slow motion. ‘She’s also Alpha Fenris’s daughter….’ The auctioneer’s words rang in my ears. They would auction me now. They would take me up to that podium and sell me off to the highest bidder. I wondered the kinds of men that would bid on me, probably sleazy men who wanted to use me as a pleasure toy until they had their fill of me, and then they would discard me.
I felt strong hands grab me and push me to the middle of the field. I was carried and placed on top of a small, rotating podium.
“Thirty coins,” the bid had begun.
I closed my eyes and tried to calm myself. My father would find me. He was Alpha Fenris, after all, the invincible, the powerful. He would not let his daughter get sold off at some illegal auction.
The bidding continued, with people reluctant to add coins to their initial bid. I noticed a particular man in the crowd was consistent in his bidding. He looked to be about twenty-something years old and of average height. He was the least threatening person in the crowd so far, and I suddenly wished that if the whole auctioning would go through, he would be the one to end up with me.
Everyone in the crowd looked large, powerful, and scary. I could only imagine what they planned to do with me.
“Forty-six coins,” a large man with a greasy-looking beard said, licking his lips, and I closed my eyes in revulsion.
“Alright, let’s put an end to this,” I heard the young man I was rooting for say. “A hundred and fifty coins, and that’s my last bid.” He got up then, as though he was ready to walk off if someone placed a higher bid. The entire field remained silent.
“A hundred and fifty, going, a hundred and fifty going, gone.” The man in charge of the auction said, and my eyes went immediately to the man who had bought me, but then the auctioneer’s next words sent a jolt of fear through me.
“Sold to Jason, on behalf of Alpha Ramon.”
The entire field became deathly quiet. There was a tightness in my throat that made it impossible for me to breathe. My eyes scanned the crowd again to light on the man I now knew was called Jason. He had not been here on his own; he was here on behalf of Alpha Ramon of the Bloodmoon pack, my father’s worst enemy, and the Alpha of the same man who had kidnapped me.
I suddenly realized I could not let them take me to the Bloodmoon pack. I was going to escape, or die trying.
I jumped down from the podium, a bit clumsily since my hands and feet were bound, and I began jumping as fast as I could. I was moving into the crowd, hoping that once I mingled with the crowd, it would be difficult to find me. Maybe, then I’d have enough time to find a sharp object and free myself.
The man who had been standing in for Alpha Ramon made a beeline my way. Thinking fast, I snatched up a handful of coins from the auctioneer’s jar and threw them into the crowd. The people didn’t exactly start scrambling for it, but it caused enough of a ruckus to let me slip into the crowd undetected.
I slipped a dagger from someone’s pocket and cut the binding on my feet first, then, walking more swiftly, I pushed further into the crowd, then bent and cut open the binding on my hands.
It took me a while to cut it, and when I was done, I noticed two pairs of boots facing me. I looked up at the owner and found myself looking into the eyes of Jason, the man that had bought me on behalf of Alpha Ramon.
“Not very clever of you,” he said angrily, hauling me up to my feet. “You want a piece of advice from me? Don’t ever try this with Alpha Ramon. Yes, he is as ruthless as everyone says he is, and trust me, he hates your father. If you give him the slightest reason to take out the anger he feels for your father on you, trust me, he will, and his punishment techniques are so cruel, they are guaranteed to break you.”
I could only stare at him as he spoke. He had begun dragging me through the crowd toward a carriage. I dug in my heels, refusing to let him push me in, but he only hurt me further trying to put me in the carriage.
“You better let me go now,” I said, playing my last card. “If my father finds out you have me, he’ll not only kill your Alpha, but he’ll also destroy you in the worst way.”
Jason laughed. “What do you think was in your father’s message? He said he’s fond of you, that you’re a nice pet, and look a lot like your mother, but not important enough for him to risk his plans over. Alpha Fenris is not coming for you, so you’d do well to start thinking of ways you can please your new owner, Alpha Ramon.”
I blinked back the tears that threatened to overflow, and I was silent as he finally helped me into the carriage. He was lying, I told myself. My father had killed people in the past because of me, he loved me!
But deep down, I realized that it had not cost him much to kill those people. All it took was an order. To rescue me would take a whole lot more.
We traveled together for miles until we finally arrived in Bloodmoon. Some maids bathed me and dressed me in a long flowing gown. It was finally time for me to be brought to Alpha Ramon, my new owner.
I was brought into a very large council chamber that was occupied by only nine people – I counted. I didn’t know who any of them were, except the man who had kidnapped me from my garden several days ago was there, sitting on a throne-like seat at the center of the council chambers.
I was not prepared for the jolt I felt on seeing him again, but before I could analyze my feelings properly, he was already speaking.
“I, Alpha Ramon of the Bloodmoon pack, reject you, Sonia, as my mate. You would stay on, however, in this pack as my breeder.”
Nothing made sense anymore. The soldier was Alpha Ramon? Why then had he waited until I got to Bloodmoon to reject me? And why had he sold me out in an auction, only to buy me himself?
Werewolf World Novel Chapter 4

SONIA’S POV
I refused to pay attention to his words. The stubborn part of my mind still told me that this could not be my new life. My father was going to come and rescue me. Something would happen!
He turned to his soldiers. “Seize her and bring her along.” They immediately rushed to do his bidding.
I struggled against them, but it was obvious my puny strength could not win against two strong soldiers that were twice my size. I panicked as they started dragging me out of the room, following in the Alpha’s wake.
“Wait! Is this how you repay me for sneaking out to heal you? Surely you have a little bit of goodness in you; you can let me go.”
He turned around and walked up to me, looking very surprised. “Sneaking out to heal me? What nonsense are you talking about?”
I frowned. “Freya said there was an injured soldier, that’s why I came outside.”
He laughed harshly. “Do you expect me to believe that the reason you disturbed yourself to come outside was because a soldier was injured? You and your family are selfish; you care nothing for anyone but yourselves.”
I shook my head. “I came out because she told me a Bloodmoon soldier had been injured. I even had my healing kit with me. Why then did you think I came out to the garden?”
He narrowed his eyes. “Freya said you were loose, that you slept around with your father’s soldiers to amuse yourself. She promised you’d come if you learned a foreign soldier was there to sleep with you.”
I stared at him in shock, fighting with the tears that threatened to overflow. I did not know which hurt me more, my best friend’s betrayal, or my father refusing to end the war on my account. “I am not lying to you, I swear it.”
“Then where’s the healing kit now? Don’t tell me you’ve lost it?”
“It fell off my hands when you grabbed me—”
Alpha Ramon let out a harsh laugh. “Of course. How convenient. Let me tell you, lies will not bring you out of this situation. The only thing that can save you is your father’s decision to end this stupid war. He still has time.”
“But where are you taking me?” I could not help asking in a small voice.
He smiled coldly. “Right now, you are my breeder, no less than my slave. I will take you out to the top of the mountains where your father and his soldiers can see, then I will use you for the only thing a breeder is used for: sex. Alpha Fenris must understand that every action of his has consequences.”
“But it is my father you are angry at. Must I be punished for my father’s sins?” I asked in a small voice.
He laughed and turned around. “Welcome to the real world, Sonia.”
“No,” I whispered, feeling the air leave my lungs, but no one paid me any attention as they dragged me after Alpha Ramon.
I was taken to a high hill, and from there, I could see the soldiers fighting below. I felt sad to see so many people lose their lives, all because my father wanted a war.
Alpha Ramon grabbed me roughly and threw me on a raised podium. My breathing became uneven as I realized exactly what he wanted to do.
“Please let me go, you don’t have to do this,” I begged, but he merely ignored me. He faced the fighting men below and started speaking.
“Alpha Fenris, I know you’re down here fighting today. It was my messengers that lured you out to the battleground. You will witness firsthand the life your daughter will live forever as my breeder. There are only two ways to stop this: end the war now, or you’re going to have to defeat me to get her back.”
He turned to me then, and the tears continued streaming down my eyes. “Please don’t do this. I’m begging you. You wouldn’t want to force yourself on a girl who doesn’t want you.”
Alpha Roman smiled coldly. “Who said anything about forcing myself on you? Of course I would stop immediately if you ask me to.”
“Really?” I asked, confused. Did he really have so much confidence in his sexual prowess that he thought I’ll let him seduce me on top of a hill so that my father’s men could watch and be demoralized.
“If – if that’s the case,” I stammered, “then…” he was so close to me now, I forgot what it was I had wanted to say. His aura engulfed me, it was like he had been masking his aura all along, and now, he let it loose on me.
Alpha Ramon walked up to me, and pulled me up on my feet, whispering into my ear. “Do you want me to give you a step by step rundown of what I plan to do to your father when I win this war?”
“You wouldn’t – you can’t win” I shook my head.
Alpha Roman merely laughed, and something in his mind told me that he had the battle programed exactly how he wanted it to be. “Lets strike a deal my beautiful ex mate, sex with you, up here in this podium, in exchange for your father’s life when I win.”
The tears still filled my eyes as I nodded. Even though my father had betrayed me for his quest for power, he was still my father. I still needed him. “Okay,” I whispered, ignoring the pill of attraction I felt to him.
“Good,” he smiled, walking away.
“Wait,” I called out. “I don’t understand, where are you going?”
Alpha Roman smirked. “Unlike you, I don’t like sleeping with someone I’ve already rejected. My beta would do the job for me -but of course, you can always walk off if you don’t like this deal.” He raised his voice then and called out. “Blane, the whore is waiting, don’t disappoint her.”
His words hurt me even more than his actions. He thought I was a whore, believing a maid’s words above mine without even asking me. What kind of man rejected his mate without even getting to know her first, eagerly believing the worst of her?
My eyes where surprisingly dry as his beta walked up to me and laid me in the podium again. I closed my eyes when I felt his powerful body on top mine, and when he finally claimed me, taking the one thing I had always sworn to give to my mate – my virginity, I made a silent vow to the moon goddess. Alpha Roman may win this war, he may destroy my pack, but I was going to destroy Alpha Roman for treating me this way, or I would die trying.
“Alpha, she was a virgin—quite unusual, given her history,” I heard his beta say, his voice coming from far away.
I felt the Alpha’s strong arms lift me from the ground, and again, my wolf purred.
I opened my mouth, and some internal force compelled me to speak. “Mate,” I said in a broken voice.
Confusion washed over me. I could not still be his mate, not when he had already rejected me. It dawned on me then: Alpha Ramon and I were fated mates; no rejection could separate us.
This realization was just too much
for me to bear. I buried my head against his chest then and wept.
